to Top it off...

To top off our one year anniversary we ate a slice of our year old wedding cake! Now I remember hearing about this tradition of freezing the top of your wedding cake but I don't know if I can recall anyone actually completing the tradition! But thanks to my mom we were able to take part in that tradition! Linnie(the lady of keep all) held onto it for a year for us and when I went back home to visit a month ago she whipped it out of the freezer and convinced me that it would be fun to eat on our anniversary! I called Dan to see if he would actually eat a slice and if it was worth the hassel(he's a pretty picky eater)and to my astonishment he said of course! So Linnie securely packed it up and sent it off with me! We let the cake dethaw all day Sunday and then dug into it that night! Despite the slight taste of freezer burn, we relived our first memories of the cake a year back!

kinda nasty...and i feel like dan is a bit of a hypocrit...won't eat a corn dog from a gas station but will eat a year old piece of cake.

Happy Anniversary! I'm glad you all made use of it after all the efforts to preserve that thing and get it back to CA in one piece. Have to say, I've never known anyone to follow through on that tradition either, so way to be the first. See you soon!

Paul and I followed through on that tradition. Or should I say, tried to. One bite of one-year-old cake was more than enough for me. Seems to me that fully engaging in the tradition could lead to not making it to your two year anniversary . . . .
