Lets try something new!

Although I am home all day, cooking just ain't my thing! Maybe if I was rich I would enjoy it better, because then when Rachael Ray says you need fresh arugula I wouldn't mind going out and buying it cause who cares if it's 10 dollars and you will only use it for one salad whose left overs will go bad the next day. As of now I stand by store brands(in most things), and try to avoid at all costs going to the grocery store! A gallon of milk here is 5 bucks! Can you believe it! When I was single my weekly grocery money would usually be split in half, half for groceries and half for a cute new shirt! Now I end up having to go to the grocery store at least once a week for one thing or another and my grocery costs have doubled! So ever since I have been married I have been hunting down quick and easy, with real simple ingredients, recipes! One of my favorite spots to find these recipes is allrecipes.com! After seeing that new pizza hut commercial with the pizzone I began craving a calzone(a food name I am more familiar with than a pizzone), and where better to look then at allrecipes.com. So I saved the 11 bucks I would have spent on going to pizza hut and instead threw together ingredients I already had! Dan complimented me three times on it, that means it must be good!

Here it goes:

THE DOUGH

1(.25 oz) package of active dry yeast

1 C. warm water

1 T. olive oil or vegetable oil

1 t. and a pinch or so more of sugar

1 t. salt

2 1/2 C. all purpose flour

The Inside

2 C. of whatever kind of cheese you have (cheddar, mozzarella, etc.)

1 C. of what ever kind of meat you have (pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, etc.)

1 T. of dried basil leaves or Italian seasoning

To make the dough: dissolve yeast in warm water, add the oil, sugar, salt; mix in 1 cup of the flour till smooth and gradually stir in the rest of the flour, until dough is smooth and workable. Knead dough on lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, if you need more flour go ahead and put it in till it feels right, you don't want it really sticky, a little flour at a time though the less flour the better. Put the dough back in a small bowl that now contains 1 teaspoon of olive oil or vegetable oil, and flip the dough to coat it in the oil! Let it rise in a warm area for 40 minutes. Sometimes I turn on the oven and put the bowl of dough on top. The oven vents the heat through the burners making the dough rise faster!

To make the filling: While dough is rising, combine the cheese, meat, and spices.

When dough is ready, punch it down and separate it into 2 equal parts. Roll parts out on a lightly floured surface into thin circles. Fill each circle with 1/2 of the filling and fold circles in half. Secure edges by pressing them down with a fork. Brush top lightly with butter and sprinkle Parmesan cheese or any other seasoning on top if you want!

Bake at 375 F for 30 minutes. You can also warm up some spaghetti sauce so that you can dip the calzone in it, or any other dipping sauce! This recipes makes two large proportions! I ate half, Dan ate the hole thing, so it just depends!
