We had our first day with the six year olds yesterday, and boy are they cute! We have five... 2 boys and 3 girls! Church was great and really flew by! Dan and I walked out of church looking at each other as if it didn't really feel like we had even been at church for the past three hours, it kinda felt like we were doing day care!! Its definitely a different experience in the primary. The lesson for the 6 years old was "Jesus Loves Me" and all though that is a very important principle, the discussion began and ended on the surface level of that principle. It felt like all we did was reiterate that same phrase over and over again for an hour! Every story the children felt like they needed to share we just tried to tie it in! It was fun!
After about two hours of being home from church I got a call from one of the counselors in the bishopric, you know what that means... I'm giving a talk on fathers day.... immediately after accepting the offer the anxiety began! I think I would do better with shorter notice, like being asked a week ahead of time, because then I would only have a week to worry but now I have TWO weeks of worrying! Oh the joys of being new to a ward!
Despite the worries of the talk, I have something to look forward to during the next two weeks as well! I have two visitors!I lured them in! Wendy and Nicole are going to be here at the same time! Wendy and Parker come June 17th to 20th and Nicole comes June 18th to the 20th! YA YA Sounds like a party too me! I bet Dan is glad that there will be another boy to hopefully even out the overwhelming levels of estrogen in our home!! Can't Wait!
P.S. Can you guys believe it is already June! WOW!

No, can't believe this year is almost half over! That's awesome that you're speaking on Father's Day. Lucky them. Wish I was there. You and Dan sound like dream CTR 6 teachers. Wish you were in my ward!! Have fun with Wen and Nicole!
yeah we could use some primary teachers too...and you already know our ward so well.
Lets blog next time about that pigeon on your hand what the heck is that?
Pigeon? I'm no bird watcher (I defer to Deano on that one
), but that looks to me like a parrot. Which still requires some explanation in my view . . . .
And those 6-year-olds are lucky to have you guys. That's such a fun age. As you may recall, we taught the 8-year-olds for a while, and likewise found it challenging to tie in the random stories to the points we were trying to make (so challenging, in fact, that often we just went with the stories).
I'm jealous that you get a Wendy/Parker visit (and jealous that Wendy/Parker get to go hang in sunny CA). Hope you all have a little extra fun on my behalf:)
By the way, are you ever going to report in on your summer reading? I'd like to see some book reports.
